Generali UK sponsors charity cinema event, to support homeless and vulnerable people in East London

As part of our ongoing support for Providence Row, a charity that supports people affected by homelessness in East London, we were proud to be primary sponsor of a special screening of Tokyo Godfathers at RichMix, a nearby multi-arts venue. This is a film that poignantly reflects the themes of homelessness, hope, and the search for belonging.

The recent event was designed, with fellow business leaders and socially conscious individuals in mind, to help celebrate the season of giving, supporting Providence Row’s ongoing mission to help people off the streets and ensure they stay off for good. Funds raised from the event go directly to Providence Row’s Winter Safe Spaces Appeal 2024.

Although this was a special fundraising event, the Providence Row film club represents an important, year-round, aspect of the charity’s Learning and Wellbeing programme; daily activities for people affected by homeless.

Daisy Bell, Senior Corporate Fundraising Officer at Providence Row, says: "Support from Generali through events like our annual Cinema Screening are crucial for enabling Providence Row to support individuals experiencing homelessness and provide life-saving service.

“The funds raised directly help provide a safe space, food, warmth and access to advice and support, as well as programmes that empower individuals to rebuild their lives. This event will also raise awareness, strengthen community ties, and ensure we can continue making a meaningful impact on the lives of those affected by homelessness."

Helen Bailey, Executive Assistant & UK Branch Communications at Generali UK Employee Benefits, also coordinator of the UKB Charity Committee, added: “The Charity Committee and employees at Generali UK have supported Providence Row for the last two years and we are pleased to be able to continue our support by sponsoring this event to help raise awareness, and for Providence Row to be able to provide crucial support to the homelessness and those sleeping rough; not only in winter but throughout the year.”
